The coronavirus pandemic cast a shadow over the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife. In nursing, our goal was to achieve Magnet Hospital status.
The following are some of the points that emerged in nursing at HUS in 2020:
- The Magnet Hospital application process was launched at HUS. The first units to apply for Magnet Hospital status are Children and Adolescents, the Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Heart and Lung Center.
- The coronavirus pandemic forced us to change our normal nursing procedures, having to quickly retrain nursing staff for new duties focusing on care for coronavirus patients.
- The year 2020 had been designated by the WHO as the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife. The HUS Nursing executive group rewarded a total of 24 distinguished nurses and midwives in various departments and hospital areas.
