Climate roadmap
At HUS, we want to take responsibility for the climate: we are aiming for carbon neutrality by 2030 and low-carbon emissions in procurement and construction. In the HUS Climate Roadmap, we describe the ways in which we are progressing towards our goal.
We at HUS bear our responsibility for the climate
We want to be forerunners in our industry also in climate work. We are aiming to be carbon neutral in our operations by 2030 and are committing to low-carbon procurement and construction. By curbing climate change, we can take care of the environment and everyone’s health. We can achieve our objectives with a joint effort by HUS employees as well as cooperation with our stakeholders.
The climate roadmap provides guidelines for our operations
The HUS climate road map is Finland’s first long-term climate work plan drawn up by a university hospital, which takes into account the emission sources from activities in a comprehensive manner. The climate road map describes the concrete means that we are using for moving towards carbon neutrality.
The climate road map describes more than 100 measures for reducing greenhouse emissions caused directly and indirectly by our activities. The measures concern in particular the consumption of energy and materials, construction, transport, and mobility. We reduce waste and adhere to the principles of circular economy. From 2030 onwards, we will only make procurements from partners who are committed to low-carbon solutions.
The practical implementation of climate measures is planned in more detail and budgeted in the units responsible for the measures in connection with the planning of normal operations.
