Working as a nurse in operating rooms or intensive care

In the operating room, in perioperative nursing, you will work to ensure the physical, mental and social well-being and safety of the surgical patient. You will support the patient’s coping by meeting the care needs before, during, and immediately after surgery. 

In intensive care, you help a critically ill patient cope with their illness and the associated treatment. You promote the patient’s healing or help the patient have a dignified end of life. You support the loved ones of the patient in intensive care and guide them in supporting the patient. 

In the Surgery and Anesthesia Units, you work at Meilahti Tower Hospital and Bridge Hospital, Park Hospital, and the Jorvi, Peijas, Lohja, Hyvinkää, or Porvoo hospitals.

There are Surgery and Anesthesia units also in the New Children’s Hospital, Women’s Hospital, Eye and Ear Hospital, and Surgical Hospital. 

In the intensive care units, you work at Meilahti Bridge Hospital or Tower Hospital, Jorvi Hospital, or in the intermediate care of Hyvinkää Hospital.
