HUS year 2023: Investments
Our investment costs for 2023 came to EUR 237.1 million. All investments were made almost perfectly as planned (98.6%).
Construction projects
The Bridge Hospital, our largest construction project of all time, opened at the beginning of 2023.
During the year, we spent EUR 178.2 million on construction investments:
- The construction of the Oak Hospital continued throughout the year (EUR 62.7 million)
- The renovation of the A wing of the Women’s Hospital continued on schedule (EUR 16.7 million)
- Implementation planning for the second phase of the renovation of the low-rise building section of the Comprehensive Cancer Center continued in 2023. The project is scheduled to run from 2023 to 2026 (EUR 403k).
- The renovation project of Surgical Ward K and areas beneath it at Jorvi Hospital was completed and the facilities were reopened in 2023 (EUR 7.5 million).
- Construction of the new ward building at Jorvi Hospital continued as planned (EUR 43.8 million).
- Renovations of wards 3 and 4 and the façade of the building’s section A at Hyvinkää Hospital were completed (EUR 15.2 million).
- Also, implementation planning for the new building for HUS Pharmacy, the central kitchen and a garage on the Meilahti campus continued through the year.
Equipment investments
We invested EUR 34.6 million in examination and treatment equipment.
The largest single investment in this category was the equipment and furniture in the Bridge Hospital construction project, spread over two years.
We spent EUR 18.7 million on ICT investments during the year.
